America is at a critical juncture in our history with scores of issues – some true, others false – tugging at our minds and hearts. As for me, I am tired of being lied to and mislead by so many in leadership and the media. We need real answers without the spin of a self-serving agenda. I’ve had enough of the politicians who run for seats because they think they own the office. We can do better than that! We need to return to the foundation of The Constitution where it begins: “We the people!”
The patriotic and godly influence of my Dad who was a WWII Veteran working at Eglin AFB after the war, faithfully taking us to church, and teaching us to respect our country, helped shape who I am today. In our public schools we opened our mornings saying the Lord’s Prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, and stood at attention with our hands over our hearts while the Star-Spangled Banner was played over the intercom. We respected our teachers and were friends with many of the law enforcement officers who protected us. We grew up fearing God and honoring those who paid the price for our freedoms. I caught more than I as taught by my parents and others who led by example.
I attended FSU under a Florida Bankers Scholarship and received a BS degree in Finance. I proudly served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Earl Hutto in Washington, DC for over a decade. While there I was elected by my peers to serve two terms as President of the US House of Representatives Administrative Assistants Association during the Reagan era. Overseeing the drafting and passage of the 1986 Child Protection Act was one of my greatest accomplishments, followed by preparing President Reagan’s Proclamation for Just Say No to Drugs to be signed in the Rose Garden ceremony. I have served as President & CEO of two North Florida banks, owned my own real estate development company, and am a Licensed Real Estate Broker. I have served on a number of local, state and national boards, committees, and commissions, including banks, chambers of commerce, gubernatorial appointments, and the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. This has given me an excellent understanding of management and teamwork across the broad spectrum of our governments. My strongest asset is my faith in God and the relationships forged at church and on the mission field.
During my lifetime, we have seen wars, the Great Recession, many of our politicians and corporations compromising our values while letting our jobs and factories leave America for other foreign countries. We face many challenges today, but I believe Clay County can lead America in returning to the greatness we once enjoyed on the world stage. I am not ashamed of our country or our people. Together, we can restore the foundation that has caused many people to desire to come to America rather than living in other countries. It is time for us to help each other and care for one another by restoring our faith in God and in our leaders. We can lead from Clay County making a difference for future generations.
I respectfully ask for your vote to become your next Commissioner for District 3, proud to be an American and unafraid of the future together.
